*** HARMONIA has joined 710.35.155.17 <HARMONIA> Buongiorno, sorry I missed you. <HARMONIA> I'll happily get back to you as soon as I'm done with whatever business I'm on. <HARMONIA> Please leave a message.
[Atem that sounds fake as fuck. You are gonna keep that lion. Giorno stares wearily at his laptop, wondering if he should say as much.]
[Nah.]
i know enough about lions to keep one alive, certainly. i still don't understand why there is a permanent lion cub at poundmates but some things i just wasn't meant to know i suppose.
[shut UP giorno he is still firmly of the belief that he shouldn't have full responsibility for a pet and he does NOT already love this lion, this is to help out Steve Harrington and the donation-run shelter he's managing that keeps having to buy meat and keep a social animal in a dark storeroom!!]
no im at poundmates
im not so careless id bring home a wild animal without asking for advice first
[The lack of punctuation might imply more irritation than is there. It's really just that Tybolt is sleeping against Atem's chest now and he's got to support the baby properly with an arm under it. Putting him down is not an option.]
i understand he used to run around a house...i cant give him that much space but its better than a storeroom. no other pets, so no problems there...i expect ill have to walk him, and ive got his feeding schedule from steve
ill take a bed and some of his scratching posts and toys from here since theyll smell familiar but im not sure what else ill need
[There is some delay. Then Atem receives Some Opinions.]
FOOD - i'm sure his feeding schedule is fine. however, it's a good idea to feed him big pieces of fresh meat if possible rather than prepared. by "fresh" i mean not cleaned in any way, skin on and recognizable as animal. it's as natural as you can get for him under the circumstances - he'll need enrichment in general, but especially food-related enrichment. you can hide food around sometimes, or put it in a puzzle [hah] for him to work to solve. i'd have to look up more detailed information for other types of enrichment and toys. i think zoos use watermelons for some reason, but that seems weird.
ENVIRONMENT - walking will probably be necessary, but if there is a park with a secure fence to let him run around in, that's also a good idea - within your apartment, try installing elevated resting platforms as well as hidden den spaces - normally lions around his age would be learning to hunt, so play/stimulation that mimics hunting might be a good idea - he's smart enough that he might be trainable, and that would be enriching as well - he'll be a good climber and a decent jumper, so anything you don't want broken needs to be very high up
SOCIAL - always supervise with other animals. you already know this - he'll bully smaller animals out of food, that's natural - lion cubs play with other lion cubs by biting the backs of their necks to simulate hunting. THIS IS BAD IF THE OTHER LION CUB IS A PUPPY ETC. supervising - does need socialization with other animals or he'll be sad
OTHER - i don't think there are any wild animal vets here but i can heal things so bring him to me if he's sick i guess? i'm not sure what else to do on that point
It helps a lot! I've got a better idea of what to expect, thanks to you...
I took him out of the Poundmates storeroom because I didn't want him to be sad. It wouldn't be any good to move him from one environment he wasn't suited to to another that wasn't any better! I don't know how much renovation I'll do, since it's just a fostering situation, but dens to hide in and platforms to climb on shouldn't be hard.
[Puzzles to put meat in....that shouldn't be too hard, either. After all, Atem has a workshop, where he's been building much more complex contraptions...he could probably design a thing or two, to keep Tybolt busy. And training him...he'll have to get Ryou on the same page...and play dates with Maple and maybe Grand Bois...
This is obviously just a foster.]
I was concerned about what would happen if he got sick or hurt, too...it's good to know someone who can heal him, if something happens! There aren't a lot of monsters with healing powers. The closest they tend to come is injury transference.
[Which. God. If Yugi gets that one. If Atem's heart weren't already stopped...but that's a problem for future Atem, and dismissed.]
[that's the problem, of course. It's not that Atem means harm. It's that he has painfully good intentions. There's no way he's going to give this lion back when the only "back" there is to take him to is that same storeroom. It just won't happen. Giorno knows. But Atem's also stubborn enough that if Giorno points it out, he'll be huffy about it.]
[So here Giorno sits, wearily knowing the inevitable and having to play along with this stupid foster mess. Fine. Fine!]
i'd be happy to help you renovate, if you'd like. it would probably be an interesting project.
[This is a fucking lie, he doesn't want to build shit, but he will if it means Atem bowing to the inevitable sooner.]
admittedly i got this particular power back to patch up monsters, not lion cubs, but we're all equally deserving, i suppose. tybolt more so than some monsters around here.
