1. Kakyoin had been acting weird about Jotaro. Like, not even normal Kakyoin weird, but weird weird. Embarrassed. Reluctant to talk about him. Which is not normal, because Jotaro is the one person Kakyoin never seems annoyed with.
2. Giorno had seemed amused by Polnareff's questions about romance; almost as if either Jotaro or Kakyoin had gotten up to something. Finally gotten laid, maybe, or at least had a good make-out session.
3. Kakyoin has said he prefers people like them over normal people.
4. Jotaro and Kakyoin have always been close.
5. That fuck-ugly vase is emeralds-- ah, but not just emeralds, but emeralds and diamonds. Kakyoin and Jotaro.
[NO WAIT forget texting, Polnareff just straight up gets up and runs down the hall, skidding to a stop in front of Giorno's door. He throws it open, and--]
[Giorno is, technically, still in the process of letting his hair down. Which means he's walking across his room fairly quickly while pulling the final donut out of its proper alignment with the intention of knocking on Polnareff's door to tell him to quiet the frickfrack down when--]
[Polnareff oh my god.]
Shh!
[He drags Polnareff in by his arm and covers his mouth while he kicks the door shut.]
Don't yell. And technically I didn't tell you anything.
[. . . He's grinning, though. He's so proud of his dumb friends.]
How am I supposed to be quiet, they're sleeping together!
[(Giorno looks even younger with his donuts down, okay, he doesn't want to curse in front of him. It doesn't matter that Giorno knows the words, that he's experienced all sorts of things; it's the principle of things).
Anyway. He shoves a hand through his own hair, cackling quietly.]
When did this start! Are they official, or is it a secret?
I don't actually know if they are, all right, they're very bad at this.
[They're so bad at this, Polnareff, please fix these disasters. He chews his lip and shifts from foot to foot uncertainly. Gossipping, but his friends . . . ugh.]
It's not a secret. It's been months. They're so stupid. God, they're stupid.
[Oh. Snuggly gossipping, that's at least ten times better than regular gossipping. He sits next to Polnareff and, after just a moment's hesitation, wedges himself under his arm.]
It's stupider than that. I thought they were already together, because that's how they always acted, and when Kakyoin got stupid and jealous about something I told him it wasn't a big deal because Jotaro was only interested in him anyway. And then he had no idea what I was talking about, so I had to explain it to him.
[Oh, hello. That's not what he meant, but he's not about to argue: Polnareff simply adjusts so his arm is a little more secure around Giorno's shoulders, so they're both comfortable (and so he can rest against his chest if he'd like).]
Ahh, romance.
[Oh, them.]
Aren't you and Jotaro related? You'd think he'd remember that before getting jealous.
[Resting against the tiddy while shittalking Jotaro and Kakyoin with Polnareff. Truly he is living the dream.]
Ah, no, it wasn't like that. Not really. We were building the house and needed more hands, so I told everyone on the network that Jotaro would be working shirtless.
[Because this is what normal people do with their attractive family members.]
I think Kakyoin thought he was mad about girls. But he obviously wasn't mad about girls. And then when he actually believed me he started with - oh but I don't deserve nice things because of . . . reasons that don't make sense, and I'm a burden, and what if something, and so on. It was trying.
[He snorts-- in derision, really, except of course it's fond derision. He can well guess why Kakyoin might think that-- but those reasons are dark, and sad, and he doesn't want to think about that. Both his friends deserve nothing less than absolute happiness, no matter what might happen at home.]
And Jotaro? Did you manage to get him to say a word to you about it, or did he bottle it all up?
[Watch out, he's beginning to gesticulate wildly.]
Back before any of this happened with Kakyoin, I was talking with Jotaro about different kinds of love. You know. Friend love and romantic love. So I was telling him that there's a difference between ti voglio bene, which is "I love you" to a friend, and ti amo, which is "I love you" to someone you're dating. So I said what I feel for Jotaro is ti voglio bene, but what he felt for Kakyoin was ti amo.
He didn't know what it meant but he just agreed with me. Like an idiot.
[Is it a Japanese thing? Maybe this is a cultural difference? After all, France and Italy are pretty much the countries of love; maybe it's just easier for the two of them to understand. Or maybe they're just way, way better adjusted than either Kakyoin or Jotaro; that, too, is a possibility.]
I don't know. It was very frustrating. And then when I told Jotaro later that I had told Kakyoin that Jotaro acts like he's in love with him, Jotaro almost had a heart attack. Because he has no sense of self-awareness or something.
They've gotten better but they also spent most of last month texting me about who is the girl on Valentine's Day.
[He reaches up and holds Polnareff's face in both of his hands.]
Please help them be less like this, I can't do it alone.
Oh! No, I haven't told you, have I. I'm sorry, I should've.
It's not that specific. It's creating life, any life. Which means I can heal, too, although I can't bring back what's passed away, not without consequences. There's other things, too, but those are my favorite parts.

[Said so, so fondly. He sighs and sprawls on the floor, gesturing for Giorno to do the same.]
Tell me everything, please, I have to catch up. Did they each think the other didn't know and didn't care?
[That sounds about right.]

Ahhh, my poor Giorno, having to deal with them on your own. I'm here now-- and I'm sure they'll have more disasters waiting for them.
[Also, for reference? The girl is absolutely Jotaro. Polnareff remembers that elbow to his face, all right.]
At least they're finally together! When did all this stupidity end?
no subject
[He's feeling better with the headpats, though, so he leans against Polnareff again and hums, thinking back.]
Right around October, I think . . . or that's when they tried to start figuring it out, at least. It was all unnecessarily convoluted.
Jotaro asked me to make him a fish. A romance fish.
no subject
[No, that sounds like Jotaro, actually. He loves the fish, Jotaro does. I mean, Polnareff is still totally squinting in disgust, but!]
Is that your Stand's power? The power to make fish?
