It's . . . well, my inner circle is fairly small. But I imagine you knew that. You've seen the Godfather.
[Which is becoming weirdly cute, somehow.]
Mm, I imagine you don't know about Diavolo - how he kept his identity hidden from everyone, even his closest subordinates. He was a very paranoid man. And on some level he was correct in that everyone knowing who he was would have been very dangerous. On the other hand, I've needed people to know who I am for two reasons: one, so that they would know there had been a changeover of power, and two, because contact with me is meant to be the ultimate goal of service to Passione.
But I still don't trust too many people back home. There's you, of course, and Mista. There's Trish, who I think you've met. Her role is - you could say it's the opposite of Mista's, and yours is somewhere between the two of theirs. She's quite vocal with her opinion even on a casual level, and I find her input to be infinitely valuable because her perspective is at the same time very similar to and utterly different from mine.
And then . . .
[He seems . . . vaguely uncertain just for a moment, and then he offers up a small smile.]
This happens in the future, apparently - which is very strange, isn't it? - but there's someone else. His name is Fugo. We weren't on the best of terms, before, but apparently he earns my forgiveness.
